I first got interested in self-development when I was 16.
What really started as me just trying to attract women has led me to change every aspect of my life:
• building a business
• money psychology
• hitting the gym
• reading books
This was all possible thanks to the habits I built. One thing before we dive in, your past does not define you. We are all here to improve. You can't change your past but you for God damn sure can manipulate your future.
Here are 4 ways to make habits stick:
1. Control your environment
I used to be a big binge eater, so I would snack all the time. We all have self-discipline to some extent but sooner or later it will give in. Imagine having burgers, candies, and biscuits laid in front of you at all times.
Sooner or later you will take one and then another. So this point is more about controlling your environment not yourself. What I did was I got rid of all the sugar in my house and never brought any in after that.
2. Create reminders
This is underrated but can do wonders for you. So let's say you want to build a habit of meditating. Simply create a calendar and put it right next to the place you want to meditate. Every time you complete your meditation, draw an 'X' in the box.
This will just make things easier for you. You can also look at it this way. Prepare your gym clothes the day before and put them somewhere visible. When you wake up, you are instantly reminded that you have a workout coming up today.
3. Hold yourself accountable
Earlier this year, I promised my sister that I'll be making at least 10k/m when I get 20. Also, I have been stating my goals publicly on Twitter. And suddenly I feel accountable. I feel like I can't let all these people down.
You don't need social media to do it. You can simply tell your friends and family about your goals. Now you can expect this topic to come up in future conversations so you don't want to let them down.
A great addition is also having an accountability partner. Let's say you want to quit the habit of smoking. Agree with a friend that if you smoke, you have to pay the other person 20 dollars. Now you don't want to do it because otherwise, you'll lose your 20.
4. The 2 day rule
It's really simple: Whatever habit you're trying to build, never allow yourself to skip 2 days in a row. Your Two Day Rule calendar can look something like this: I can tell you from experience that having 2 days off in a row will be more like 4 or 5.

Now I have made gym an exception. It's important to feel your body and if you're exhausted then maybe you truly need 2 days off.
Have fun building new habits and I hope this made it easier for you :)
